wait... am i correct when one of their ideas, or their main idea, is that everything is bigger in america? like the size of food, etc. etc.? this is a fabulous shoot though! and agreed, i would loved to have seen other models who werent blonde :(
I think the reason behind the blondes is because the whole thing is playing on stereotypes. Any non-American I know, when they think of an American girl, they tell me they picture a blue-eyed blonde. They "know" that there is a little of everything here so there is complete variation in hair and eye color, but that's what they immediately think of. Have you guys forgotten our movies, our music, etc.? I mean... that's the message we put out there, so I can't blame them for thinking that way.
Here's a cheesy example... when I think of a stereotypical French girl, I think of a pale, average-height girl with wavy brown hair and hazel eyes. Or I think of the Bridgitte Bardot type. The reasons I think that are obvious.
At first, I couldn't decide whether or not I liked'em.
I'm still not sure I do.
I think the set was meant to look like the girls were un-posed and natural. Instead, it looked like un-natural, posed girls trying to look un-posed and natural.. eep.

And frankly I really just don't like Lara Stone, but she isn't as bad here as on the runway so I guess that is a plus...
