The photography is breathtaking. This is exactly the reason why Vogue Paris surpass all European fashion magazines except Vogue Italia. These pictures show art. These pictures depict what fashion really is. Simply outstanding. Caroline Roitfeild is a sure master at what she does. This makes me want my dream even more. To edit a fashion magazine. I now have hope...

Absolutely agreed. Sometimes I wonder why I even bother to read American Vogue and Harper's Bazaar.

I occasionally still pick up W. And then I realized that if the articles in a magazine are in English--it's shit these days.

I blame Anna Wintour.

But thank god Vogue Paris, Italia and Espana are still fantastic.

God, W bores me to tears. There's a smug elitism and classism to American fashion publications that irks me.

Paper is a magazine that used to occasionally have excellent fashion photography, if you could wrap your head around the deconstructed clothing.

W used to be quite good. Pity it's been years though. I still have a very battered issue in my box of ideas to plagiarize from when Mod came back for half-a-second.

For me it's the elitism and classism...and the insistence on La Chappelle and Liebowitz as the hallmarks of photographic genius.

I really do miss the late 70s-early 80s. American publications didn't suck quite so hard then.

I cut my teeth reading back issues of 60s, 70s, and early 80s Vogue and Bazaar - hell, that's how I learned about 20th century photography! Steichen, Capa, Avedon - I learned about them all in American Vogue, whether it was Avedon's fashion shoots or articles about Steichen and Dali.

So agreed.
Don't get me wrong-- Leibovitz IS good. But she is not the be all and end all of fashion photography.
I just wish Anna Wintour would pick someone whose last name isn't La Chappelle, Testino, Leibovitz, Klein or Demarchelier.
That's all.

To comment back to what you said [info]kali921 Harpers Bazaar, has lost my respect last year. I used to love it, before I started editing my school fashion's magazine. It is so ridiculous the ads and the templates and the whole issue, it makes me sick. American Vogue has its moments but I really stay with the March, August, September, October and December issues. If you want true fashion try Elle and W. Elle is disregarded because Vogue is ahead, but really look into it. I think you might enjoy it.

[info]dllacina not all English editorials are shit. LOL. Maybe No, have you tried Elle and V magazine? Anna Wintour needs to give it up and just be a fashion icon that helps the designers with the trends. Honestly, I believe designers stress so much on Vogue because she runs it. Trust me I have a huge feeling that if she leaves and Conde Nast gives it up to Caroline Roitfeild and when she leaves Vogue will be no more. It is so overrated. And to be honest. The true American fashion magazine happens to be Elle. It sticks to style, women and fashion only. W as well, but it is more for the industry as I know you know. LOL. Harper's Bazaar is helpless, I would love to be given a chance to edit that I would change that magazine so much, the cost is so much to ache. LOL.

Daria truly is at her best when she is vamping it up. She is one of those models who can pull of any look and do it well. Her face is unlike any other, so exquisitely carved. She has proven that she can really emote when being shot and has serious staying power not unlike Natasha, Natalia, and Raquel. I am sure we will be seeing a lot more from the Brazilian beauty int he future.
