Unlike most of the suck-up actresses who play rebels, Lori Petty was the real thing, and Hollywood quickly learned to hate her for it. Wikipedia describes her crucial career disaster:

"Although Petty was originally cast as Lt. Lenina Huxley in Demolition Man, disagreements over the character's direction led producer Joel Silver to recast the role with Sandra Bullock."

Nows she's designing expectably hard-ass clothes for her own label, lawdknows, visible at http://www.lawdknows.com/index.html and working occasionally in ER, CSI:NY, etc...
