Everything is pretty and the lighting is fantastic, but what keeps me from loving this set is how contrived it is as a whole--it's two different photo shoots in one, with two models having nothing to do with one another.
Also, there is an over-abundance of Dita, eternally expressionless and bored.
I really like the lighting...I think it makes the photos very nice to look at because of the contrast, etc. yet there is something I hate about how her head is tilted back a lot.
Why does it always feel to me that Dita's body looks as hard and unyielding as a corpse. In each picture I could swear she's not even alive for some reason, she's so poised and stiff.
I like the atmosphere of the shoot, but Dita really isn't doing anything for me. Despite the fact she's a bit bigger than the usual model, she looks so much harsher and angular..
Agreed! To paraphrase her words, she has constructed an enduring character. In our current context, I believe she epitomizes the difference between style and fashion.
When someone hires her, they don't hire a model, they hire "Dita". She's like the eugene levy of hotness ;-) No one hires eugene levy to act... they hire him because of the character he has constructed.
As one additional thought... personally, I can't find the slightest thing appealing about models such as jessica stam, gemma ward, and anyone else in the long and undifferentiated line of waifs. Dita is a woman, not a girl...she is well into her 30s and looks amazing! She carries history in her eyes and looks like a real person, too. I'd rather see nothing but her than another stick figure with a blank, vapid aura.

it makes me laugh that whenever i see dita in a fashion shoot they never put her in anything else other than corsets or underwear clearly they can't think outside the 'shes a burlesque performer' box, heh (X
Love the photos, the setup and the colours and all and the colours the "other" model is wearing are wonderful, but they both look the same in all the shoots. And there's no.. story in it either. They're just dead. :/
I agree about the lack of story. As long as there isn't one, I like the last image best. I still think she's hot, even if we keep seeing her doing what the commercial market wants to pay her to do. If they paid me, I'd keep doing the same thing for awhile too (come to think of it, that is what I do, just not as interesting). The androgynous pimp figure doesn't work for me. I'd rather have seen the bondage cross get some kind of use.

I know -- it's the least interesting thing about this photoshoot.
Stupid non-Dita-holding chair.
