Oh, man, this makes me wish I had been in Italy late enough to get the September issue. Not that the August issue sucks or anything, but I'd love to have some of these on my walls!

GANGBANG VS. TRITE FASHION EDGINESS

since this is fashion, I do not expect much. I never expect a message. Or a real serious look at anything.

All these interpretations of 'rape' and 'gangbangs' and women as decoration make me cringe. Everything is decoration in fashion.

it's a shoot by people who revere beauty ideals coupled by so-called edginess. I dont look for fashion to push the envelope or hold anything sacred or do anything other than be eye candy. I do NOT look to fashion to hold up any standards or make me proud. Therefore, I do NOT read too much into anything it produces. Waste of time.

I DO think some of you look for things to be offended by.

ironic movies about war (MASH, et al) i can take.
but ironic fashion spreads about war? i dunno, man.
even for meisel, this just looks like a half-formed idea.

instead of what looks like a gangbang waiting to happen
wouldn't it have been more brave to photograph the girls and
the clothes around a set of injured GIs? blood. shrapnel.
crumbling concrete. weapons. a sense of dread. or better yet
right in the middle of a firefight -- RPGs streaming thru
the frame as the girls stand resolute in their floor-length
valentino. THAT would be a statement.

but these images as they are have nothing to say.

yeah, but meisel doesnt like to make those sorts of statements... he is all about the imminent gangbang.

hes not one i expect to push his own boundaries often.
